Climate Change
The UK Government's DEFRA website states that:
"Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today. Rising global temperatures will bring changes in weather patterns, rising sea levels and increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events."
The recent (Feb 2007) IPCC report confirms that human activities, such as fossil fuel usage and land-use change, has resulted in global increases in CO2 emissions. The study goes on to state that unless we act now the process of global warming will accelerate during the 21st century.

Climate change is already happening and in the UK we are seeing higher temperatures, wetter winters and drier summers, less snow and higher sea levels - which will lead to flooding of some coastal areas.
On a global scale we are likely to see more flooding, droughts, food shortages and the spread of disease.
There are 2 main ways to help stop the process of global warming:
- Reduce CO2 emissions
- Offset your carbon emissions
Planting trees is a way of offsetting your carbon emissions and to reduce what is known as your carbon footprint.
